Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system goes haywire and begins to mistakenly attack healthy cells in our body.

Autoimmune diseases are constantly increasing today: just think that only autoimmune diseases of a rheumatic nature - including, just to mention the main ones, lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, spondyloarthritis - affect, in Italy , over two million people.

But how do autoimmune diseases develop and why are we faced with a real epidemic of autoimmune diseases?

Today 37 studies carried out by 77 scientists from all over the world - including authoritative researchers from the most prestigious Italian universities - document the link between vaccines and some of the most well-known autoimmune diseases and serious neurological disorders such as: lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, alopecia areata, type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, polymyalgia rheumatica, undifferentiated connective tissue diseases and many others.

Adjuvants are substances added to a vaccine to enhance the immune system's reaction to vaccination.

The book Vaccines and autoimmunity is divided into three parts:

• the first part illustrates the general mechanisms of autoimmunity induced by vaccines and adjuvants;
• in the second the individual vaccines are analyzed and which autoimmune diseases they can trigger in susceptible individuals;
• in the third part, common autoimmune diseases are described and the vaccines that can cause them are identified.
